Whispering Roads

are the chronicles of my travels on my motorcycle. I’m female, retired, and love touring on motorcycle. I have a few places I plan to travel. But I will take off on the spur of the moment if a good opportunity presents it self.

I am a member of WindShifters WMC (women's motorcycle club). We have members in the four corners of the US and in between. On occassion we all get together for a MITM (meet in the middle) or a group gathering. A lot of my miles have been to join up with the club for these gatherings or to ride with members/guests that are local to me.

Since Oct 2005 I have logged 70K miles. 22k on the Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 and 48k on my current bike, a Yamaha Royal Star Venture. 2008 has started off slow but it is winter so not as many days that are conducive for answering the call of the open road.

08/19/09 AMA Women's Conference Keystone CO

11/17/08 Weather has turned cold. At least for me. Guess I have been in the south too long. Blood has thinned out. Now is the time to start making plans for some rides for next season.

10/15/08 Headed for NJ again to meet up with WindShifters for the celebration of the club's birthday.

09/19/08 Going to middle GA to ride some curvy roads and visit with some friends. For a description of the ride see ROAD TRIP TO GA.

07/09/08 Returned from a 9000 mile trip across the country. 14 states and lots of wonderful vistas. Took over 700 picts and am still in the process of going thru them.

04/17/08 Headed for NJ but only made it as far as Baldwin when mechanical trouble forced me to make a detour to Lake City. Problem solved and back on the road about 5 hrs behind schedule. Thankfully weather was beautiful. Made it as far as Fayetteville, NC for the night, about 170 miles south of where I had planned.

02/13/08 - Making headway on the route to CA and back with the help of a friend that lives in and has ridden the roads out there.

02/01/08 - Major trip of this year will be to CA on up into OR and WA then over into MT and any states between MT and TX.

01/05/08 - First ride of the year was to get a new front tire. 15K on it and was starting to feel a slight wobble at times. What difference a new tire makes in the ride and handling. Guess you just get use to the feel as the tire wears down.

01/01/08 - Happy New Year to All!

12/25/07 - Cloudy day for a ride but ride I did. Hit some rain about 10 miles from home but it didn't last long.

12/09/07 - Going to ride the Apalachee Savannhas Scenic Byway

12/02/07 Rode down to Floral City to meet up with a couple of friends

11/15/07 Back from Tx. Lots of wind, 20-30 mph with gusts
